Support
Photality is made by one person, and support is best-effort and free, like the app. I read every
message and help where I can, but I can't promise a response time — especially in the days around a major
eclipse. The most reliable safety net is your own rehearsal, not my inbox.

Requirements (check these first)
- Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) — Photality is native, not Intel/Rosetta.
- macOS 15.6 or later.
- A ZWO ASI or Player One camera. Other cameras aren't supported.
Before the eclipse — rehearse, don't hope
Totality is unrepeatable, and success depends on far more than software (cables, power, USB stability,
focus, storage, weather, your prep). Treat Photality as one tool and have a backup plan.
- Run a full rehearsal with your real camera and settings (Timeline → rehearsal
mode simulates the whole sequence and produces real frames). More than once.
- Confirm plenty of free disk space for the full plan.
- Test the exact USB cable and port you'll use; reseat anything that wiggles.
- Nail focus and confirm exposures on the real sky.
If something goes wrong
Photality keeps local, privacy-preserving diagnostics — nothing is uploaded automatically:
- Run log: each capture writes
capture_log.txt into that session's
output folder. Attach it to a support email.
- Crash reports: after an unclean shutdown, Photality points you to the macOS crash
report and can reveal it in Finder — you choose whether to send it.
- Console logs:
log show --predicate 'subsystem == "net.photality.Photality"' --last 1h
- Resume: after a crash mid-sequence, Photality offers to resume into the same
session folder on next launch (while the eclipse window is still open).
Updates
Photality updates itself (signed, over HTTPS, no account, no telemetry). Keep auto-update on so you have
the latest fixes before an eclipse.
